"Olympian Park" is at S Saheibung, not Sangaithel: KSO Moltam Block

KANGPOKPI, Jan 27: Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) Moltam Block has clarified that the newly-inaugurated 'Olympian Park' is at S Saheibung in Kangpokpi district and not at Sangaithel, Imphal West as published by the Government.
In a release, KSO Moltam Block stated that the student body appreciates the noble effort of the present BJP-led Government in constructing a historic and monumental park christened ‘Olympian Park’ to honour distinguished Olympians in state. However, it is unfortunate that the Government has allegedly published the wrong location of the said park in advertisements.
"It is noteworthy that the said proposed park is neither close to Sangaithel Village nor does it fall under Imphal West District. In fact, Sangaithel is about 3 Km away from the proposed site", it added.
The student body categorically mentioned that the said land measuring about 30 acre has been donated and allotted by the then District Commissioner, Manipur North District, HC Mahajan vide Order No DC (N) 6/44 dated August 22, 1981 to the Sericulture Department for construction of Sericulture farm.
"Pursuant to the Allotment Order, a Delivery of Possession was made to the Sericulture Department, Government of Manipur by D Thangpum, the then SDC, Sadar Hills West, Kangpokpi vide Memo No SDO (SW)2/21/81 dated October 3, 1981. Thus, it is of no doubt that the said land has always been under Sadar Hills West Sub-Division (now Kangpokpi District) and not within Imphal West, as claimed", it said.
KSO appealed to the Government and concerned authorities to not mislead the public and rectify the address as Olympian Park, (Near) S Saheibung Village, BPO Khoken, PO Langjing, PS New Keithelmanbi, Kangpokpi District, Manipur-795113, to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings among the people.
KSO Moltam Block further cautioned that the Government would be held responsible for any untoward incidents if it failed to rectify the same at the earliest.
