Bringing the North East to the centre stage; bringing Delhi to the region
The North Eastern region had long been at the periphery of development discussion of almost all the Governments at the Centre since independence. The NDA Govt under the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji’s leadership sought to change this lopsided policy and planning when it came to the North East. The DoNER Ministry was established with the aim of bringing the NE at the centre stage of the Government’s development agenda. The BJP led Govt under Narendra Modi’s vision has magnified and intensified this approach in every conceivable sense. The change from ‘Look East’ to ‘Act East’ carries a deep meaning; indicating the seriousness with which the Hon’ble Prime Minister holds the growth of the region. The transformation of the NE region under his leadership will stand the test of time.
The development of ASEAN highways is bound to bring a massive paradigm shift in the growth potential of the region. “For Modi Ji, development has no end point, it is an eternal journey. Each and every Cabinet colleague of his visit the North East regularly, this has had a huge role in decision makers and policy planners thoroughly understanding the problems and obstacles from the perspectives of the people living in the region, which in turn has helped in implementation of the policies and programmes effectively in every nook and corner of the region.
The historic decisions to give due recognition to the North Eastern Region’s contribution in the freedom struggle has also been a welcome step from all quarters. The renaming of Mount Harriet to Mount Manipur is the highest honour bestowed by the Govt of India to the brave forefathers of Manipur. Following the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s announcement to set up tribal freedom fighters museums across the country, the construction of Rani Gaindinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum in the State is also underway.
Moreover, the return of normalcy in the region has led to a massive boost in tourism in the region, this in turn has helped the rest of the country empathise with the plight faced by the people living in the region. Earlier North Eastern leaders had trouble getting appointments to meet the Central leaders in Delhi. Now, the fact remains that Modi has brought Delhi to the North East. This tectonic shift is responsible for the vast and rapid manner in which the NE region is growing today. New Education Policy NEP 2020 (New Education Policy, 2020) a new chapter in India’s Education journey ; this far sighted educational policy of the 21st century was launched with the aim to bring out the unique capabilities of each student, universalise education, build capacities and transform the learning landscape. The focus on imparting knowledge to students on practical, real world applications of various concepts, ideas, making learning intriguing with innovative platforms are one of the many facets of the NEP,2020. “““India going its own way: A bold India and the resulting discomfort to many.
The landmark decision of abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir which was the long cherished dream of India’s stalwart leaders like Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya; for one Nation, one Constitution (Ek Vidhan, Ek Samvidhan). This historic decision commenced a new chapter for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh by putting them on the path of peace, prosperity and development. “The more India goes its way and the people who believe that they were the custodians and shapers of India lose ground in India, the more such debates will come outside.”
These are the words of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar while referring to certain sections (with vested interests) in the western media; these sections have been running an anti India rhetoric since Modi and the BJP came to power in 2014.
In this context, the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister is absolutely on point. Many in the West (including those who lived in the delusion that India will never reach its forecasted heights ) have been unable to deal with the fact that a bold India has been taking shape since 2014, an India that doesn’t hesitate to stand its ground on important global issues. The more we go our way, the more their allergies grow. Detractors increasing their anti India rhetoric at every available opportunity only means one thing i.e India is on the right path. “An India that is bold, decisive and unflinchingly poised in the face of adversity is one that was envisioned by Sardar Valla-bhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee etc. Narendra Modi shares that very same vision and the India that has been taking shape since the NDA came back to power under his leadership is ample proof. From wiping out the nation’s enemies on foreign soil to steering 1.3 billion Indians through an unforgiving global pandemic and making India emerge as a model nation in the post covid recovery phase, Narendra Modi has led the nation with boldness and compassion.
From driving daggers through the spine of black money holders to celebrating Diwali with the nation’s brave soldiers at the border Narendra Modi exudes extreme love for his nation and its people. ““This year, the BJP made the historic decision to observe Seva Pakhwada (a fortnight of service) from the day of Modi Ji’s birthday i.e 17th of September to the 2nd of October all over the nation by BJP karyakartas. “As a karyakrta of this great party, each and every day of Sewa Pakhwada so far has been a humbling and emotional experience at all levels. Amongst each and everyone of us, this ongoing chapter of Sewa Pakhwada has strengthened the resolve with which one became a member of the world’s largest family, the BJP Parivar.
It truly is a fitting tribute to the man who has dedicated his whole life to the service of the Nation. Greatness comes in many forms. One that is of service and sacrifice is of the highest form. Narendra Modi Damodardas Modi, India’s ‘Pradhan Sevak’ lives and breathes for service to his nation. Nothing can be more exemplary.
