Wife's promise

She was biding a warm goodbye to her husband
Though she was in great pain within herself.
Last night everyone was fast asleep in peace.
But, she was all eyes wide open thinking of her dear,
Worried about him though she knew
That parting time was bound to come anytime.
Yet, she took pride in smiling being acknowledged
As the wife of a diligent soldier.
She recalled how he just wants her to promise not to cry.
With a sinking heart, he left without muttering a word.
I know but, what he felt and thought,
He must serve his Nation.
But, what if he never heads back to his wife?
Would she forget her promise to her dear
For the cause of her husband's vow to the Nation?
