36th National Games-Gujarat 2022 Cyclists clinch three more medals on Day 5 as women's Foil team bag gold

IMPHAL, Oct 3 : Manipur won four more medals on Day 5 of the 36th National Games-Gujarat 2022 to secure 7th place in the medal tally with 11 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals.
Manipur cyclists continue to shine at the Gujarat Games adding three more medals including one gold today.
L Ronaldo who had won two gold medals (one each in 1 km time trial and  200 m sprint) registered another gold medal this time in the men's team sprint along with Jamesh, Rojit and Chinglensana.
T Manorama who had won a bronze medal in the 10 km scratch race also won a silver medal in the women's team sprint event with Thaja and Sonali.
Earlier, Sonali had also won a silver medal in the women's 500 m time trial and a gold medal in the  T Manorama,  Kh Rejiya and I Matouleibi  in the 4 km women's team pursuit event
In the meantime, Kh Rejiya who clinched women's 3 km  individual pursuit gold earlier also bagged a bronze medal in the Omnium Race today.
Fencing : The 5th day also saw the women's foil team winning a gold medal. The team of L Khusboorani, L Anita, N Mina and W Sonia beat Kerala team 45-41 in the final to seal the top place.
It was fifth medal for Manipur in fencing with L Anita Devi having won a silver medal in the individual foil event, M Mina Devi securing a bronze medal in the individual foil event and Laishram Abi having won two bronze medals one in the individual sabre event and another in the team sabre event with Th Daina, Th Sana and H Anapriya.
Women's Football : Manipur crushed Goa 4-0 today at Shahibaug Police Stadium for the second win in Group A league round having beaten Tamil Nadu 5-2 in the previous clash.
Manipur, despite dominating the earlier proceedings found it hard to take a commanding position but Salam Rinaroy Devi made sure Manipur take a 1-0 first half lead with a 45th minute strike.
The second half was otherwise a one sided proceeding as Irom Prameshwori doubled the advantage in the 66th minute before Ngangom Bala  (75') and Asem Roja Devi (87') took their turns.
Manipur will play Mizoram in the last league stage encounter on October 5.
