IMPHAL, Oct 4 : Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) is all set to observe a commemorative programme to recall the first Assembly sitting of an "independent" Manipur on October 18, 1948 on 18th of this month.
Speaking to media persons at New Checkon today, CCSK president Ningombam Jeetendra said that the committee has been observing the historic day as a calendar programme to remind the people that Manipur had its own Assembly represented by elected members before joining India.
"We observe this particular day to make people aware of our history," he said.
Saying that a discourse will be held as a part of the programme and discuss the vision they (elected members of Manipur before merging with India) had for Manipur, he appealed to the people of Manipur to attend the programme.
