Manipur beat Mizoram by 23 runs in Women's U-19 T-20 Trophy

IMPHAL, Oct 4 : Manipur defeated Mizoram by 23 runs in the Women's U-19 T-20 Trophy at Cricket Stadium Sector 16, Chandigarh today for the first win after losing two previous ties.
Earlier in the tourney opener, Manipur suffered a 10-wicket loss in the hand of Haryana and slumped to a huge 151 run loss to Baroda in the second match.
In today's match, Manipur racked up a total of 116 runs for 6 wickets and held Mizoram to 93 runs for 4 wickets to secure a 23 run victory.
Skipper Seterny (20 off 28 balls) gave Manipur a good opening and shared a 34-run first wicket partnership with L Prena (13) before being bowled by Sawmsangi in the 8th over.
L Prena was then bowled out the very next over by Mizoram's Hruaii to reduce Manipur to 39 for 2 but I Shelina (9) and Teresa (13) forged 25 runs off 34 balls for the third wicket before Niruta (28) and I Shelina added 26 runs off 15 balls for the fifth wicket and take the score past the 100 mark.
Mizoram's Sawmsangi who also claimed Teresa's wicket emerged the pick of the Mizoram bowlers with the best bowling figures of 2/16 in 4 overs while Thelma and Hruaii registered a wicket each.
In Mizoram's innings, Mangalsana removed Vanlal Rem Tluangi for a 10-ball duck for the first wicket before Niruka undone Rinsiami (13) for the second wicket in the 6th over to leave Mizoram struggling at 21 for 2.
Manipur bowlers continued to keep things under check with economical bowlings and  were further reduced Mizoram to 74 for 4 in 18.1 overs as Mami (17) fell prey to Th Mangalsana and Siami got run out by Palujam Kiranbala in the 19th over. Thelma stood her ground with  an unbeaten 44 off 46 balls but her effort went in vain as Manipur closed out the innings at 93 for 4.
Manipur will play Chandigarh in the next match on October 6.
