National Games : Medal rush continues as Naobi, men's team win archery gold

IMPHAL, Oct 4 : State Archers took honour on Day 6 of the 36th National Games as Okram Naobi Chanu and Indian round men's team added two gold medals to State's tally and helped Manipur rise to 6th place in medal tally with 29 medals.
Men's team of M Chingkhei, L Naoton, K Borish and Nelson was able to win a gold medal in the Indian round archery beating Services Sports Control Board 6-0 while Okram Naobi Chanu beat Rathva Amita Ganpatbhai of Gujarat 6-5 in the women's individual Indian Round event.
Naobi went on to win the women's team silver medal along with W Maleshori, L Rojina and L Tomthinganbi after they went down 3-5 to Kerala in the final.
In the Indian Round third place match, L Rojina was also able to beat Pooja Kumari of Bihar 7-1 to secure a bronze medal.
Fencing
The day also witnessed the State team of O Sanatombi, RK Rebeka, Linthoi Haobam and S Chingkheinganbi winning a bronze medal for Manipur in the women's epee team event losing 27-45 to Chandigarh in the semi-final.
Men's Football : State men's football team suffered a 0-3 loss in the hand of Odisha today in the second Group A match.
Sanjit Khora (35', 45+5') and Chandra Muduli (24') scored for Odisha to hand Manipur a humiliating defeat today.
Manipur had played out a 1-1 draw Services Sports Control Board in the previous match.
