GSI team to survey Marangching

IMPHAL, Oct 5: A team of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) would carry out a survey at Marangching area of Noney district on October 6 and 7 which was devastated by a tragic landslide in the intervening night of June 29 and 30 this year.
The GSI team would be assisted by offices of the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
The GSI team including officials from its headquarters, Nagaland unit and Mizoram unit would land here tomorrow.
Together with officials of Environment and Climate Change, the GSI team will carry out a survey at Marangching and they are also likely to make direct assessment of soil and environment, sources informed.
The Relief and Disaster Management Director has already written to the Noney Deputy Commissioner to provide logistic support to the GSI team, the sources added.
