Biswajit urges

IMPHAL, Oct 5 : Agriculture Minister Thongam Biswajit has appealed to all concerned to avoid building structures at paddy fields and wetlands.
Speaking to media persons at his office at the North Block of Manipur Secretariat during a review meeting of the Agriculture Department today, the Minister said that the Agriculture Department is the reporting authority of Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2014.
Claiming that many structures are being constructed at paddy fields and wetlands unlawfully despite the implementation of the Act, Biswajit appealed to all concerned to extend assistance in  conserving  paddy lands and wetlands of the State.
The Minister also said that the Government  will start taking action if people don't abstain  from encroaching on paddy land and wetland.
Saying that the review meeting was held as per the direction of Chief Minister N Biren, the  Minister said that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a five trillion dollar economy would not be possible without taking along those in the farm sector.
"The review meeting was convened to prepare an action plan to improve the economy of the Nation," he added.
Agriculture Director N Gojendro also took part in the meeting.
