67th Wildlife Week celebrated

THOUBAL, Oct 5 : Thoubal Forest Division in association with Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) Tentha today observed the 67th Wildlife Week at Tentha High School under the theme, "Future of wildlife in our hands".
It was attended by Thoubal Forest Division DFO, Th Lokendro; Thoubal Range, Range Officer, S Samungou; Deputy Ranger, Md Aslam; JFMC Tentha chairman, Laimujam Ratan Kumar and Tentha High School headmaster, Md Nasir Khan as presidium members.
People For Animal (PFA) managing trustee, L Bishworjit and Unique Wildlife Protection Committee (UWPC) former secretary, Elangbam Budha also attended the programme as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Lokendro stated that efforts of the Forest staff to save/protect the wild animals and birds will not be successful without the assistance & support of the public.
He appealed to the local clubs, organisations and students to provide their assistance in saving the wildlife.
Th Lokendra also informed that poaching of wild animals/birds is punishable by imprisonment upto 3 years and fine upto Rs 25,000.
It may be mentioned that Thoubal Forest Division will be observing the  67th Wildlife Week at various places till October 8.
Members of Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC) Manipur, JFMC Tentha, students and teachers also participated in the programme.
