IMPHAL, Oct 5 : Classic Football Academy ran riot to overwhelm J Songtun Youth Club (JSYC) 6-0 while Football Club Lamjao cruised to 3-0 victory over United Brothers FC (UBFC) in today's Group A matches of 2nd AMFA Cup at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In the first match of the day and tourney's 20th, CFA came out all guns blazing and pulled off a comfortable 3-0 lead in the opening period as Serto Worneilen Kom quickfire two goals back to back in the 2nd and 14th minute and Sorokhaibam Robert slotted home the team's third in the 27th minute.
CFA rested back a major portion of the second half and defended JSYC's comeback bid until Ganningam Malangmei who substituted Konsam Angamba Meitei at the restart extended the lead to 4-0 with a 70th minute strike.
JSYC's condition further deteriorated with Haobam Tomba netting another before Ningthoukhongjam Rohen found the decisive goal in the 88th minute to earn CFA the second win in as many as three matches.
Later in the day, FC Lamjao picked up a comfortable 3-0 win against UBFC as substitutes sparked a late spree after enjoying a 1-0 first half lead through Ningombam Henery's 30th minute strike.
FC Lamjao continued to dominate the possession and had a better number of chances but had to wait until the 73rd minute to see Irengbam Priyobarta who came off the bench in the 32nd minute to double the advantage.
Md Farid, who came in for Huidrom Rishiraj in the 64th minute, then capitalised on a 88th minute chance to complete the 3-0 rout and handed UBFC a second defeat in the tournament.
