25th Sub-Junior National Championship Girls team take top honour as boys settle for runners-up title

IMPHAL, Oct 5 : State girls were crowned team event champions at the 25th Sub-Junior National Sepaktakraw Championship hosted by Karnataka as the boys team finished runners up.
The girls team defeated Kerala 3-1 today in the final to seal the top honour yesterday.
Earlier in the league stage of the competion, Manipuri girls had beaten Karnakta, Gujarat and Odisha by similar 3-0 margins and knocked out Haryana 3-0 in the semi-final yesterday.
Meanwhile in the boys team event, Manipur boys suffered a 1-2 loss at the hands of Bihar to settle for the runners up title yesterday. Earlier in the league round, Manipur defeated Delhi 2-1 and Andhra Pradesh 3-0 to confirm their semi-final spot.
Meanwhile in the girls regu event, Manipur secured four of four wins today clinching identical 2-0 wins over Chhattisgarh (21-3, 21-13), Rajasthan (21-7, 21-9), Karnataka (21-9, 21-6) and Gujarat (23-21).
Manipur boys also dazzled in regu event winning 5 matches on trot and earning a walkover win against Mizoram. In the first match, Manipur beat Jammu and Kashmir 21-9, 21-2; Odisha 21-13, 21-12; West Bengal (21-4, 21-3), Jharkhand 21-3, 21-4 and Andhra Pradesh 21-12, 21-13.
