Over 1 Kg heroin seized, 7 held

IMPHAL, Oct 6: Apart from seizure of 1.051 Kg of heroin (No 4) in two separate incidents, seven people have been arrested by police.
Kakching police commandos signalled one car (Vitara Brezza) to stop for checking at the gate of Pallel police station at around 12.10 pm today.
But the car which came from the direction of Pallel tried speed away but the commandos managed to stop the vehicle at a short distance.
The driver and the occupant of the car identified as Naoba Takhellambam (36) s/o Takhellambam Iboyai Meitei of Haotak Tampak Khunou Makha Leikai, Wangoo Keirap, presently staying at Chikim village, Moreh and Lhingchin Kipgen (46) w/o Nehkolam Kipgen of Zalenphai Part-2, Moreh were detained.
On searching their car, 65 soap cases containing suspected heroin were recovered.
Subsequently both Naoba and Lhingchin Kipgen were arrested and they were handed over to Kakching police station.
The heroin seized from them weighed 809 gms.
On the other hand, a team of Lilong police station together with local anti-drug organisations viz; ALADA and Anjuman seized 20 soap cases containing suspected heroin from the possession of one Md Mukhilish Juddin (25) s/o Md Islamuddin of Moreh Ward No 9, presently staying at Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai.
The heroin seized from him weighed 242 gms approximately.
On his disclosure, four other persons involved in illegal drug business were also arrested.
The four associates have been identified as Md Habib (25) s/o Md Sahid of Sangaiyumpham Mairen-khun, Md Yusuf Ali (21) s/o Najir Ahemad of Sora Mayai Leikai, Md Ajish Khan (23) s/o Md Ajijur Rahaman of Sora Mayai Leikai and Md Najir Ahemad alias Abocha (32) s/o Md Ibocha of Sora Bazar. Five mobile phones, one Eeco van and one two-wheeler (Suzuki Burgman) were also recovered from their possession.
