IMPHAL, Oct 6 : Special Judge of POCSO Imphal West has approved the application filed by police to take out rape accused Laishram Ravi from judicial custody for a day for interrogation.
Accused Laishram Ravi @ Nanao 42 s/o (L) Bijuli of Naoremthong Laishram Leirak was sent to judicial custody by the Court from August 17 last onwards for allegedly defiling a minor girl on August 12, 2022 somewhere in Imphal West under Lamphel police station.
The application was filed by Sub Inspector S Renubala of Lamphel Police Station.
IO of the case submitted that Laishram Ravi was arrested on the charges of sexually assaulting the minor girl and during investigation the victim girl along with her elder sister (9 years) who is a witness of the case were examined under Section 164 CrPC.
Saying that the rape accused also sexually assaulted the elder sister of the victim as per the statement recorded during examination, the IO asked the Court to hand over the rape accused to police for a day for interrogation.
The Court on perusal of the application filed by the IO send the rape accused to police custody for a day.
The Court directed the IO to send back Accused Laishram Ravi to judicial custody at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa after interrogation.
