JAC calls off bandh

The Joint Action Committee Against Brutal Torture of Md Abdul Hakim has called off the proposed indefinite bandh on Imphal-Moreh highway today slated to begin on October 7 at 6am.
In a release, the JAC informed that a meeting was held today at Pallel Police Station between the JAC members and SP Tengnoupal District along with OCs.
The JAC continued that the decision to call off the bandh was taken after an understanding was reached during the meeting.
It may be mentioned that the bandh was called after Md Abdul Hakim, driver of passenger van (Eeco) plying on Imphal-Moreh highway was brutally assaulted by some armed persons for refusing to give them Rs 100 on October 4.
