IMPHAL, Oct 6: Manipur suffered a devastating 134 runs loss to Maharashtra today at the ongoing Women's U-19 T-20 Trophy at Chandigarh.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Maharshtra struck 176 runs in 20 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
Team Manipur bowlers started well as opening batter Shweta Sawant was sent back to the pit after adding just 9 runs of 11 balls. Skipper IM Savkar struck 39 in 40 balls before she returned to the pit.
KN Mulla had a near century impressive knock as she scored 98 of 58 balls (not-out) while Chinmayee Prasad added 12 of 12 balls (not-out) to give Manipur a 177 runs target to chase.
The Manipuri bowling line-up failed to restrict Maharashtra batters nor were able to pick any more wickets. While Niruta and Bandana picked up 1 wicket each while conceding 28 runs and 37 runs respectively in 4 overs other bowlers including Khadija (33 of 4 overs), Buynty (27 of 3 overs) and Mangalsana (39 of 4 overs) failed to make any impressions.
Manipuri skipper Seterny opened with Prena but was sent back early after facing just 8 balls and adding 6 runs.
Team Manipur batting line-up couldn't face the onslaught of Maharashtra bowlers as they fell victim to an impressive spell of bowling. Prena (6 runs in 12 balls), Mangalleibi (5 runs in 7 balls), Shelina (0 in 1 ball), Niruta (4 runs in 5 balls), Mangalsana (7 runs in 22 balls), Teresa (3 runs in 10 balls), Bunty (3 runs in 11 balls), Bandana (0 in 2 balls), Priyanshee (0 in 1 ball) and Khadija (3 runs in 11 balls, not out).
Manipur managed to put up a score of just 42 runs against a target of 177.
Maharashtra bowlers Shweta Sawant (4 wickets in 2.5 overs and 4 runs), Samrudhi (2 wickets in 3 overs and 12 runs), Ishita Khale (2 wickets in 4 overs and 7 runs), Shalmali (1 wicket in 2 overs and 7 runs) and Aachal Agarwal (1 wicket in 2 overs and 6 runs) showed a beautiful game.
Earlier in the tourney opener, Manipur suffered a 10-wicket loss in the hand of Haryana and slumped to a huge 151 run loss to Baroda in the second match while they had a 23 runs victory over Mizoram in their third match.
