Blast rocks Ex MLA’s residence

IMPHAL, Oct 6: Some unidentified people attacked ex-MLA Dr Khwairakpam Loken by triggering a bomb blast at his Sega Road, Takhellambam Leikai residence this evening.
According to information culled from the spot, a bomb exploded at the gate of Dr Loken’s residence at around 8 pm not long after he reached home.
Even though no one was injured in the blast, the impact of the blast snapped a domestic power line apart from creating a small crater. One street lamp was also destroyed.
Dr Loken said that he had just changed his clothes after coming back from some work when the bomb exploded.
He said that there was no instance of any UG group making any monetary demand or threat to him.
If there is any grievance, the same can be talked over telephone, he said.
It is suspected that the bomb was an IED of medium intensity.
A team of Imphal West District Police was searching the area when this report was filed.
