Remand for molester

IMPHAL, Oct 6 :  The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has remanded Haobam Ibomcha who was arrested on the charge of molesting a tuition going girl student to five days police custody till October 10.
Meanwhile, Women Action for Development (WAD) has condemned the act of sexually assaulting a girl student at Keishampat Thiyam Leikai on October 4 last. In a statement, WAD said that the incident must not be taken lightly as cases of sexual assault are on the rise in the State.
Lauding the police for their swift action and arresting the culprit, WAD appealed to the Government to deliver justice to the victim.
It also urged the Government to provide certain facilities to protect young students from the hands of immoral persons.      
Accused Haobam Ibomcha (43), s/o Late Kumar of Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai was arrested by a team of Imphal West police from his residence yesterday soon after the CCTV footage of the act was circulated widely on social media.
IO of the case Rattana Ngasepam, Additional SP Investigative Unit Crime Against Women Imphal West,  produced the accused before the Court along with a prayer to send the accused to police custody for five days.
The IO said that the vehicle driven by the accused while committing the crime has also been seized by the police.
Reportedly, Haobam Ibomcha has admitted the charges levelled against him.  
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused to five days police custody.
