IMPHAL, Oct 6: The office building of the North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband was allegedly leased to the BNB Trading.
Speaking to media persons in front of NISA office, Thangmeiband DM College Gate today, NISA sub-committee chairman Moirang- them Noudalenkhomba (Surendra) said that a deed of agreement was signed between BNB Trading and the then NISA secretary RK Ningthemsana in August 2019 to lease out the office building as a shop.
Noudalenkhomba said that NISA was set up in 1958 after the local people contributed Rs 5 each to work for the welfare of the local people, particularly youth. As per NISA’s by-law, the secretary should implement only those decisions taken by the general body or the managing committee.
If any deed should be signed, it should be done by the president. The secretary contravened NISA’s by-law by appending his signature on the deed of agreement, Noudalenkhomba said. The deed of agreement should be renewed every 11 months and the rent should be collected every month. But the deed of agreement signed by the former secretary was for 10 years, he said.
The security deposit for taking the office building on lease should be deposited in NISA’s S/B account. But RK Ningthemsana took the security deposit in cash, he alleged.
M Noudalenkhomba said that RK Ningthemsana has been removed from the primary membership of NISA for good for his unauthorised activities.
A general body meeting of NISA was held on March 3 this year and the meeting decided to annul the dead of agreement signed between BNB Trading and RK Ningthemsana and ink a new deed every 11 months.
The meeting also decided to collect Rs 70,000 from BNB Trading as rent for the months starting from April 2021.
Highlighting these decisions, a letter was sent to the BNB Trading. Instead of giving any reply, the BNB Trading served a legal notice, Noudalenkhomba said.
Even as senior members of NISA went to BNB Trading to bring a settlement, the latter opted to remain silent, he continued.
Another general body meeting held on September 25 decided to file a case at Court against BNB Trading, he said. He added that the wrongdoings of some office bearers have turned out to be serious setbacks to the NISA.
