IMPHAL, Nov 9 : TRAU-Kwakeithel slumped to fifth loss in the 15th Manipur State League Group B campaign as they went down 1-2 to Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei at Mini Stadium, Bishnupur today.
SSU who are unbeaten in the last four matches found the lead early in the 11th minute when Robert Usham made an effort count but TRAU who have won once in the last five matches cancelled out the lead in the 18th minute thanks to Bishal Robidas' strike.
SSU however regained the lead in the 43rd minute with the help of Mynam Arif Husain and entered the break with a 2-1 lead.
As the Kwakeithel outfit failed to stage a comeback, SSU held on to their lead to see out the game 2-1 and extend their winning run to three and unbeaten run to five games.
In a Group A match staged later, NESU who were winless in the last 5 games finally opened their winning acount by edging 2-1 past Rising Athletic Union (RAU)-Lairikyengbam Leikai.
RAU were leading 1-0 till the break with Wakambam Michael's goal in the 35th minute but substitute Yuthing Khongreiwo helped NESU pull level in the 72nd minute.
The game looked to end in a 1-1 draw but an own goal by RAU custodian T Nelson Kom in the 88th minute gave NESU the 2-1 advantage which the later team managed to keep unchanged till the final whistle.
