IMPHAL, Nov 11 : Manipur archers, cyclists and swimmers were the highlights of the second day of the 2nd North East Olympic Games being hosted by Meghalaya Olympic Association at Shillong as Manipur racked up 17 medals including 6 gold, 6 silvers and 5 bronze medals.
Archers added 3 gold, 2 silver and a bronze medals to the State tally today.
N Subhachandra and T Sen scored 664 and 650 points respectively in the 70+70 m Recurve event to claim the gold and silver medals as Ch Nelson and L Rojina took the 50+50 m Indian round event gold medals shooting 642 points and 637 points respectively.
M Baby Devi also finished second in the 50+50 m Indian Round event to win a silver medal while K Borish won a bronze in the men's competition with 635 points.
Khundrakpam Ronel and AL Thotmachan claimed a gold medal each in cycling events today. AL Thotmachan won the gold medal in the Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) (13.8 km) event for junior boys while Ronel won the elite category (18.4 km) gold.
Swimmers add 7 medals to State tally
The day also saw State swimmers add 7 medals including 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals to take the tally to 17 medals.
Ningombam Jeson was able to clinch a gold medal in 50 m breaststroke with a time of 31.75 seconds as Moirangthem Thouba settled for the silver medal in the same event with a 32.26 seconds finish. Laitonjam Jessica Chanu won a silver medal in the 100 m backstroke for women taking 1 minute and 16.76 seconds.
In the 4x50 m freestyle relay event for men, S Punshiba, L Lanchenba, Ksh Devraj and S Athouba won a silver medal clocking 1:49.46.
Siddhika Huidrom, Hatnunnem Haokip, Laitonjam Jessica and Dekalu Th Panmei also won a silver medal in the  4x50 m freestyle relay event for women as Dekalu Th Panmei won bronze medal in the women's 100 m freestyle event with a time of 1:10.56 and Kangabam Kevashri won 50 m backstroke event bronze taking 40.72 seconds.
Taekwondo : Pushpatally, RK Liokanta win bronze medal
Pushpatally won Manipur a bronze medal today in the senior women's individual poomsae event while RK Liokanta won another bronze medal in the junior boys individual poomsae event.
Football : Men's team (U-21) finish Group 1 runners up
State men's football team finished Group 1 runners up with a 0-1 loss today at the hands of Mizoram this evening at the MFA Turf in Polo Ground. Manipur will now play hosts and Group 2 toppers Meghalaya in the semi-final on November 13.
