2nd NE Games : State taekwondo players shine, bag 11 medals to take tally to 80

IMPHAL, Nov 13 : State taekwondo players continued to dazzle at the 2nd North East Olympic Games being hosted by Meghalaya Olympic Association in Shillong as they added 11 more medals including 6 gold on the 4th day of the regional games.
Winning gold medals for Manipur in the senior division taekwondo events today are Naoroibam Jina (46 kg), Sapam Nancy (53 kg), Loktongbam Yaiphaba (58 kg), Priyanka Leitanthem (62 kg), Soibam Jina (+62 kg) and Pebam Teyson (80 kg).
Meanwhile Thokchom Inaobi (49 kg), Binita Laishram (57 kg), Moirangthem Poreihanba (68 kg) and Pukhrambam Johnson (74 kg) were able to earn Manipur a silver medal each as Moirangthem Sanahal (63 kg) won a bronze medal.
In Judo, Roshibina won the gold medal in the 44 kg event as Manipur Leima won silver in the 34 kg event. N Matou (40 kg), Th Rahil (40 kg), N Nanao (45 kg) and Jijin Lamkang (50 kg) were able to win bronze medals for Manipur today.
Swimming : Swimmers add 1 silver and 2 bronze
Mixed relay team of Laitonjam Jessica, Dekalu Th Panmei, Sarungbam Athouba, Laikhuram Ricky won 4x50 m freestyle event silver with a time of 1:59.34 as Sarungbam Athouba bagged a bronze medal in the 50 m butterfly event taking 26.91 seconds. Dekalu Th Panmei also earned a bronze medal in the 50 m butterfly event taking 34.29 seconds.
Athletics: State athletic team register 13 medals
The fourth day of the games saw Manipur win 13 medals in track and field events. Winning gold medals in these events are M Alken (400 m race), N Chaoba Devi (1500 m race), Manaobi (5000 m race) and A Anjilla (Long Jump).
H Ngaopulou (10,000 m race), Dauad Khan (100 m race), S Arnold Meitei (800 m race), O Alson (shot put) and T Russia (3000 m race) also won Manipur a silver medal each while RK Tejkumar (100 m race), Ng Chingulembi (400 m, 800 m) and Y Tokyo (1,500) bagged a bronze medal each.
Shooting : State shooters bag 2 gold, 2 silver
Yaiphabi along with Irengbam Reema and Sylvia Loukrakpam amassed 1599 points to clinched another gold medal in the women's team 10 m pistol event. The men's team of Kunyson Tonambam, Khagemba Loukrakpam and K Prem Singh gathered 1634 points to settle for the silver medal in the 10 m men's team pistol event as the Assam team took the gold. In the 10 m men's individual 10 m pistol event, Kunyson Tonambam clinched a silver medal by securing 550 points. In the women's individual 50 m Rifle Prone event, Shamurailatpam Tulky Devi shot 563 points to clinch a gold medal before securing a bronze medal along with N Sonia and Jyotika Laishram in the women's team 50 m rifle prone event.
