Children's Day celebrated across State

BPR/IMP/KAK/TPL/THB, Nov 14 : Children's Day was celebrated in different parts of the State today to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children.
It is celebrated on November 14 every year on the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
BISHNUPUR
District Child Protection Unit Bishnupur and New Life Foundation today jointly celebrated Children's Day at Glory Children Home Thamnapokpi under the theme, "Act together for child friendly community".
It was attended by Child Welfare Committee Bishnupur chairperson, Rebati Rahman; District Child Protection Officer Bishnupur, N Nandashyam; Child Line Bishnupur director, Dr L Pishak; and Mangol Nganbi College Ningthoukhong, associate professor, Asem Chanu Velorbati as presidium members.
As part of the event, District Child Protection Unit Bishnupur handed over skipping ropes, footballs, volleyballs, wall clocks, etc to Glory Children Home Thamnapokpi, Naoyok Naothemkol Thamnapokpi, Open Shelter For Girl UNICAM Bishnupur, Bright Way Girl Home Kumbi and Bright Way Open Shelter Home for Day Kumbi.
KAKCHING
In line with the celebration of Children's Day, Child Welfare Committee, Kakching today visited Orphan Homes located across Kakching District and presented gifts to the children staying in the homes.
As part of the visit, Deputy Commissioner Kakching, Somorjit Salam; District Child Welfare Committee Kakching chairperson, Naorem Kumari; District Child Protection Unit Kakching, District Child Protection Officer, Konjengbam Anita; SDPO Kakching, Geetchandra and staff of District Child Welfare Committee Kakching also interacted with the children.
Speaking to media persons, Somorjit Salam informed that there are 3 Orphan Homes in Kakching district namely, Morning Star Children Home for Boys located at Kakching Panjao, Backward Development Service Children Home for Girls at Keirak and Thambal Children Home for Girls at Arong Khunou.
"The team visited the Orphan Homes to celebrate Children's Day with the children and inspect their living conditions", he added.
TENGNOUPAL
Children's Day was also celebrated at St George High School Moreh today.
It was attended by Rev Father Joseph Dale, principal of the school; vice principal, Father Anthony Sen; sisters and teachers.
Prizes were also distributed to the students who won medals at the 61st Inter District Subroto Mukherjee Football, Inter School Sports Meet and Annual School Meet.
THOUBAL
To celebrate Children's Day, Ningthoujam Anjit s/o Samungou of Heirok Part (ii) Tomal Makhong Ningthoujam Leikai today distributed stationery items to Government school students from Heirok.
Ningthoujam Ajit is currently working as a Science teacher at Heirok High School.
In line with the celebration of Children's Day, Singa Makha Leikai Welfare Club (SMWC) also organised a Social Service Camp today at Yairipok Singa Sangai Leirak.
Children's Day was also celebrated at Royal Academy Wangjing.
It was participated by administrative & managing director, Jogechandra Laishram and teaching & non-teaching staff of the school.
ASSAM RIFLES
Shangshak Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) celebrated Children's Day at Government Primary School and Little Primary School of Lamlang Gate village.
The troops of Assam Rifles enlightened the gathering about the significance of Children's Day and provided stationery items and chocolates to the students, said a statement of IGAR(S).
The Battalion also provided stationery items to school going children at Chamu village, Kamjong.
Children's Day celebrations were also organised at Assam Rifles Centre of Educational Excellence in Kangvai by Loktak Battalion; at Dawn School, Tuitam Khongkhai Primary School and Gilgal Children's Home in Churachandpur District by Churachandpur Battalion; at Tengnoupal, Khudengthabi, Saibol and Sita by Tengnoupal Battalion.
On the occasion of Children's Day, Mantripukhri Battalion also organised a career counselling programme for aspirants of Sainik School and other competitive exams at Shilheipung village, Imphal East district.
Maram AR Mao Company also celebrated Children's Day along with students, teachers and staff of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Pfukhro, Mao in Senapati District today.
