World Diabetes Day observed at various places

BPR/KPI/THB/UKL, Nov 14 : As observed across the Globe, District Health Society Bishnupur and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Cell, Bishnupur today celebrated World Diabetes Day 2022 under the theme, "Diabetes education to protect tomorrow".
The event was conducted under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS).
As part of the celebration, CMO Bishnupur, Dr L Raichandra Singh flagged off a walkathon from CI College Bishnupur.
The walkathon participated by ASHAs and staff of NCD Cell went till Kiyamba Ningsing Sanglen, Bishnupur.
KANGPOKPI
NCD Cell, Kangpokpi also celebrated World Diabetes Day 2022 at Inspection Bungalow (IB), Kangpokpi District Headquarters under the theme, "Access to Diabetes Education".
It was attended by Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, CMO Kangpokpi; Len Kamkhosat Khongsai, District Tuberculosis Officer, Kangpokpi; and Dr Paotinlal Haokip, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kangpokpi as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr A Pfuzia, DNO, NCD Kangpokpi stated that Diabetes is a lifestyle disease which can be prevented by adopting a healthy balanced diet, regular exercise of 30 minutes every day, maintaining normal body weight and avoiding stress, smoking & alcohol.
Similar events will also be held at PHC/HWC Saikul, HWC Leimakhong, and HWC K Chiru this month.
THOUBAL
District Health Society Thoubal, NCD Thoubal Unit, WMGC, NSS Unit and Lions Club of Thoubal Greater Centurion today jointly observed World Diabetes Day at Waikhom Mani  Girl's College Thoubal under the theme, "Education  to Protect Tomorrow ".
It was attended by Chief Medical Officer Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul Singh; Waikhom Mani Girls' College Principal, Professor H Manoranjan Sharma and Lions Clubs Thoubal Greater Centurion president, Lion Dr O Ibeton Devi as presidium members.
At the event, CMO Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul Singh stated that World Diabetes Day is observed every year to spread awareness on early detection of the deadly but preventable disease.
"If an individual takes good care and follows the instructions of health care professionals then a person with diabetes can live for a long time like a normal healthy person", he added.
As part of the event, sugar test and screening for Non-Communicable Diseases were also conducted.
UKHRUL
In line with the observance of World Diabetes Day, District Health Society and NCD Cell Ukhrul today organised a free Diabetes Detection Camp at Ava Market Complex, Phungreitang Ukhrul.
It was attended by DC Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar and CMO Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring A' Shimray as presidium members.
Medical care was provided to about 150 persons at the camp.
Dr Kapangring A' Shimray and Dr Stephen Diamei, Med Specialist Ukhrul spoke on the occasion.
