2nd NE Games: N Chaoba, N Bishwori win wrestling gold medals

IMPHAL, Nov 14 : N Chaoba Devi and N Bishwori Devi won gold medals in the 2nd North East Olympic Games wrestling today. Manipur are second in the medal tally with 136 medals- 45 gold, 41 silver 51 bronze medals (till the filing of this report).
N Chaoba won the gold medal in the 50 kg freestyle event as N Bishwori topped in the 59 kg event.
Md Irsan Alam Khan earned Manipur a silver medal in the 57 kg boys' freestyle event as Y James (61 kg) and Luwang Chanu Linthoi (53 kg) settled for bronze medals.
Swimming
Sarungbam Athouba won Manipur a silver medal in 50 m freestyle swimming today with a time of 24.93 seconds as Sandham Punshiba finished third with a time of 26.31 seconds to win the bronze medal in the same event.
In the women's 50 m freestyle, Dekalu Th Panmei recorded 31.35 seconds to win a bronze medal. Dekalu also went on to win a bronze medal in the 100 m butterfly event taking 1:22.78.
In the 200 m individual medley event, Sarungbam Athouba won a bronze medal by finishing third with a time of 2:25.29 .
Karate-Do
State Karatekas won 4 medals including 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Kh Wahella won a silver medal in the junior girls' 40 kg kumite event as Th Suraj won the other silver medal in the senior men's 60 kg category event.
Khaidem Tombi Chanu (Junior girls 50 kg kumite) and Md Shahanoon (Junior Boys' 45 kg kumite) on the other hand sealed bronze medals for the State.
