One sent to judicial custody

IMPHAL, Nov 14: The Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East has remanded Md Mansoor Alam (41), self styled president of Anti Corruption Foundation of India to judicial custody till November 28.
He was produced before the Court today by a team of Heingang police station after completion of a 5-day police custody period.
Md Mansoor Alam is a resident of Kairang Mayai Leikai. He was arrested on November 9 for running a fraudulent organisation.
He claimed to be the president of the Anti Corruption Foundation of India, allegedly certified by the National Vigilance Commission. On social media, he had allegedly claimed to have recovered a borrowed sum of Rs 8 lakh from various defaulters and till now he has recovered Rs 4 crore from various defaulters. He had declared that victims may contact him for recovery of money.
After a direction was given to SP Imphal East for an enquiry into the information of the self styled president, the National Vigilance Commission was contacted and it was found that no certification was given to ‘Anti Corruption Foundation of India’ and the organisation is fraudulent.
When he was arrested from the office of the organization, police had recovered 3 seals, ID card, diaries, forged documents including recruitment forms and a sign board.
Notably, the accused, Md Mansoor Alam was arrested by Imphal East police in June 2019 for posing as an official spokesperson of Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Facebook.
