IMPHAL, Nov 16: Informing that the process of delimitation of ADC Constituencies would be finalised soon, Hill Areas Committee (HAC) Chairman Dinganglung (Dipu) Gangmei has exuded confidence that the ADC election would be held certainly.
Speaking to media persons at his office at Manipur Legislative Assembly today, Dinganglung Gangmei said that the HAC held a meeting today and it was participated by 13 members.
The meeting deliberated on the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Councils (7th Amendment) Bill 2022 which was referred to the HAC by the Manipur Legislative Assembly but no concrete decision was adopted as it involved a lengthy process, the HAC Chairman said.
Nonetheless, another meeting would be held after the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 and the HAC Members would work to adopt a decision, he said.
The State Government and the HAC have been working to strengthen the ADCs this time and the Chief Minister has keen interest to strengthen the ADCs which have not been strengthened since 1971-72, Dinganglung Gangmei said.
Delimitation of ADC Constituencies is a massive exercise and there is a need to seek opinions of all stakeholders including former ADC Members and CSOs.
Nevertheless, the process has been going on at a hectic pace and a report would be submitted to the State Government once the process is completed, he added.
