Free Heart Disease Screening Camp conducted

A one-day “Free Heart Disease Screening Camp” for children (0–18 years) was jointly organized by Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) National Health Mission (NHM) Mizoram and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Imphal at DIEC Kulikawn, Aizawl, Mizoram, on November 15.
As per a statement issued by Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, a total of 210 children were screened by a team led by Dr Sidhartha Lukram, Consultant Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Shija Heart Beat, Shija Hospitals during the camp.
The screening camp provided free consultation and free ECHO screening to all registered individuals.
ASD Device Closure, VSD Device Closure, PDA Device Closure, and open surgery cases were detected during ECHO screening at the camp, the statement added.
Shija Hospitals & Research Institute further shared that these children will be treated at Shija Heart Beat under the RBSK Scheme.
Notably, RBSK is a National Rural Health Mission program that aims at early identification and intervention for children from birth to 18 years who are diagnosed with Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs), surgical treatment of cleft lip and cleft palate, Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), congenital cataract, congenital deafness, retinopathy of prematurity, otitis media, dental caries and vision impairment.
