Cordon and search operation intensifies ahead of Sangai Festival

IMPHAL, Nov 17: Teams of Imphal West District Commando and Bishnupur Commando conducted intensified cordon and house to house search operation in their respective districts today.
The search operations have been conducted as a part of the preventive and security measures for VVIP visit for the upcoming Manipur Sangai Tourism festival at different locations including lodging hotels.
The cordon and search operation in Imphal West was led by Inspector P Achouba, OC Imphal West Commando under the command of M Amit, Additional SP Operation and under the supervision of Ksh Shivakanta, SP Imphal West.
During the search operation, the Commando Team thoroughly checked around seven lodging hotels located near Hotel Classic Grande and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, a house to house search operation was also carried out at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai today morning and verification of around 120 individuals was done but no one was picked up for further questioning.
Later, the same team of Imphal West Commandos carried out surprise checks at seven lodging hotels located at Paona Bazar side.
The Commando team also carried out surprise cordon and search operations at Kasturi Crossing  of Thangal Bazar side covering Dharmasala, Yaima Store  Stretch, Bora Gali  and Alu Gali in the evening.
Around 190 individuals were verified properly during the surprise checking and detained three persons who had failed to produce their proper verification identity proofs and were handed over to the City Police Station for further verification.
On the other hand, a team of Bishnupur Commandos carried out cordon and house to house search operation at Sandhong Awang Leikai.
The team was led by Y Saktishen, OC Bishnupur Commando and under the command of M Roni, Additional SP Operation.
During the cordon and house to house search operation,  around 70 houses were checked and more than 90 persons were verified however no one was detained for further verification.
