Govindas hints more privilege to international players

MOIRANG, Nov 16 : Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Works, Govindas Konthoujam has said that international players will be enjoying more privilege than the National level players.
Govindas made the statement as the chief guest during the opening programme of the Khelo India Centre of Rowing at the Takmu Water Sports Complex organised by District Youth Affairs and Sports, Bishnupur today.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister apprised all present that the Takmu Water Sports Complex will soon be adopted by SAI and got further developed.
The water sports facility is all set to receive new sets of equipment latest by November, he said. As the number of sportspersons and competition among them grow each passing day, it is high time for National level players not to remain complacent, he said.
In view of the growing competition, the State Government obviously had to give more priorities and privileges to worthy players who shine at international arenas, he said while encouraging players to work harder to achieve more.
May this Khelo India Centre help produce more international level players and bring home laurels from gala sporting events like Olympics and other world and continental events, he prayed.
Moirang AC MLA, Thongam Shanti; LDA Chairman M Ashnikumar; YAS Director T Phullen; YAS Assistant Director Anita and Bishnupur District Rowing Association president O Nobin also attended the programme as presidium members.
