IMPHAL, Nov 8 : Manipur women's football (U-17) team kicked off the 2nd North East Olympic Games campaign with a 6-0 rout of Assam today at Polo Ground, Shillong.
L Babina was the highlight of the one sided encounter as she scored thrice to guide Manipur to a convincing win. She opened the scoring in the 11th minute and completed her double in the 29th minute after L Shelia Devi had doubled the advantage in the 12th minute.
As Manipur pressed hard for more goals, Tushamoni Gogoi of Assam fumbled to put the ball into her own net in the 40th minute and eventually the State team entered into the break with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
The onslaught continued after the break as well and it was Lynda Kom who made it 5-0 before L Babina fired home the final nail to the coffin in the 72nd minute.
