IE District Subroto Mukerjee Football Tourney kicks off

IMPHAL, May 9 : New Era Eng School, Free Progress Academy triumphed in U-17 Boys' competition as the Imphal East District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament for U-14 boys and U-17 boys and girls kicked off at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In the opening match of the tournament, New Era Eng School Khundrakpam beat Friendship EA 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Nawaz gave Friendship EA the lead in the 8th minute but O Malemnganba pulled level for New Era Eng School in the 21st minute.
As the two sides remained unseparated till the final whistle, the game was decided via penalty shoot-out where in O Diamond, L Mangansana and Amzard Khan found the target for New Era Eng School and only N Jamson and Th Anish scored it from the spot for the losing team.
Later in the second match, Mangpineng double (38', 41') in the second half earned Free Progress Academy a 2-0 win over Young Pioneer Academy.
