Stage set for semi-finals of IW U-17 Boys' Subroto Mukerjee Football tourney

IMPHAL, May 10 : The semi-final line up of the Imphal West District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament for U-17 boys has been completed today.
In the first quarter final match of the competition being underway at Main Stadium Khuman Lampak, Ch Thambou High School rode on S Langamba double (8', 50') to edge out Little Master English Hr Secondary School 3-2.
The two sides were levelled at 1-1 till the break as Langamba hit the breakthrough goal in the 8th minute before Little Master Eng Hr Secondary pulled level in the 28th minute via Ramdash.
After the restart, Manithoiba helped Ch Thambou High School, Mayang Imphal retain the lead in the 31st minute but Little Master Eng Hr Secondary School clawed back into the game when Dharanjoy scored the equaliser yet again in the 45th minute.
The hope of settling the game via penalty shoot-out was quashed away when Langamba struck at the stroke of the 50th minute mark to give Ch Thambou HS the headway.
The Mayang Imphal team then held on to their lead to book the semi-final ticket.
In the second quarter final match, CT Hr Secondary School, Mayang Imphal edged out Malom Megha HS 2-1 to confirm their place in the semi-finals.
The two sides were evenly poised from the beginning and settled the opening half in a goalless draw before Monex handed CT Hr Secondary School the lead in the 37th minute. The Malom school lads mounted their way back into the game with Bharat finding the equaliser in the 48th minute.
To everyone's surprise Monex was at the target again at the stroke of the final whistle (60') to help CT Hr Secondary School snatch a 2-1 win and the semi-final berth.
Later in the third quarter final encounter, Kanan Devi Memorial School, Lamphel thumped Nilmani Eng School, Mayang Imphal by 5-1 goals to set up a semi-final date with Ch Thambou HS tomorrow.
In the last quarter final face off, L Swami's goal in the 24th minute earned Thambaleima High School, Iram Siphai a 1-0 win over Helping Hands Group Academy, Sangaiprou.
They will lock horns with CT Hr Secondary School in the second semi-final match of the competition tomorrow.
