IMPHAL, May 11 : Kangla Ukok MES will face off against Diana Eng School for the U-14 boys' title in the Imphal East District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament being organised by the District Youth Affairs and Office, Imphal East at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Kangla Ukok MES, Yairipok entered the final beating Unique Model Academy, Heingang by a narrow 1-0 margin while Diana English School, Porompat sealed the final berth beating Success School, Sawombung by 5-4 goals in the penalty shoot-out.
Y Amuthoi scored the winner for Kangla Ukok MES in the 20th minute of the first semi final match as the Heingang side remained clueless throughout the game.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match, Diana English School and Success School cancelled out one another to settle the regulation time goalless and thus the game was decided via kicks from the penalty mark.
Yohenba, Rohit, Jaminthang, Muhadish and Alvish found the net in the shoot-out to give Diana English School the edge against Success School whose Durnao, Luckyraj, Ronald and Henthoiba only beat the Diana English School custodian.
New Era English School, Kangla Ukok MES progress in U-17 Boys tournament
New Era English School, Khundrakpam brushed aside Free Progress Academy, Uyumpok 4-2 to advance to the next stage of the U-17 boys competition as Kangla Ukok MES beat Success School, Sawombung 6-5 on penalties after 1-1 draw in regulation time.
In the high scoring encounter, O Malemnganba earned New Era English School the lead early in the 8th minute but Free Progress Academy pulled level in the 17th minute.
O Diamond helped the Khundrakpam school team regain the lead in the 18th minute but Free Progress Academy also rallied back and closed out the gap in the 20th minute via Anthony's goal to settle the first half in a 2-2 draw. New Era English School however gained full control of the second half and it was Amzad Khan who broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute before hitting the decisive goal two minutes away from time (58').
Meanwhile in the other match, Kangla Ukok MES and Success School were locked at 1-1 till the end of regulation time as A Holland scored a freak first minute goal for Success School only to be equalised in the 35th minute by Th Priyabon for the Yairipok school side.
The winners were decided via penalty shoot-out wherein Loyalakpa, N Bidyananda, Th Priyabon, Th Tajkhan, Th Jackson and M Nelson made no mistake in sending home the ball against 5 goals for Success School scored by M Akash, Kh Boby, M Jolly, Th Beeson and M Minaketon.
