IMPHAL, May 12 : The 16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup, Manipur 2022 began today under the supervision of the All Manipur Taekwondo Association (AMTA) at the indoor stadium of Khuman Lampak with the participation of 630 players representing 25 units .
The opening ceremony was graced by Governor La Ganesan and Social Welfare Minister H Dingo.
In the tournament, altogether 412 male athletes and 218 female athletes will compete in different categories.
On the first day, PTA won eight gold medals while UTA, CTI, LTA and SAI-RC clinched two gold each.
The units that won one gold medal each are NSA, HTA and Marjing.
The players that won gold medal for the PTA are Thangjam Lanchenbi (16 kg), Ksh Taisi Devi (38 kg), Shine Taorem (41 kg), Kh Chanchan (59 kg) in girls category and Kh Danel (18kg), T Wangamba (44kg), Khoisnam Mangal Meitei (cadet boy's 33kg) and Alex Moirangthem (cadet 65+ kg) in boy's category.
The other gold medallists are Ichal Longjam of CTI (girl's 47 kg event), Th Lanchenba Meitei of LTA (boy's 41 kg), Ch Bokulsana of LTA (boy's 50 kg), Sapam Yaikhombi of CTI (cadet girl's 59+ kg), Ngasepam Ashakiran representing HTA (girl's 42 kg), W Sachin of SAI-RC (boy's 45 kg), Sh Devray of NSA (boy's 68 kg), Ksh Toptoppa of Marjing (boy's 78+ kg), Robinson Konjengbam of UTA (men's 54 kg), Kelvin Yumnam of UTA (men's 87 kg), and Riamei of SAI-RC in women's 46 kg event.
