IMPHAL, May 13 : Chhattisgarh Hockey rode on braces from Geeta Yadav and Aradhan Rajbhar to crush Hockey Gujarat in a Pool C league match of ongoing 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
The day also saw Hockey Madhya Pradesh beat Hockey Uttarakhand 3-0 in a Pool D league encounter while Hockey Bengal edged past Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 2-1 in a Pool A league match.
In the lopsided Pool C match, Chhattisgarh girls were on the front-foot from the beginning and took a 2-0 first quarter lead as Sanjana Raikwar opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Geeta Yadav extended the lead in the 15th minute.
Chhattisgarh however drew blank in the following quarter as Gujarat managed to withstood pressure but made a comeback in the third quarter with Aradhana Rajbhar converting two penalty corners back to back in the 36th and 38th minutes to make it 4-0.
The scoring spree continued with Geeta Yadav completing her brace in the 50th minute before skipper Rani Raj and Shalu Sonkar chipped in with a goal apiece in the 54th and 59th minutes respectively to complete the 7-0 rout of the Gujarat side.
Earlier in the Pool A clash, Hockey Bengal rode on goals by Barsha Mondal (28') and Sumaiya Sultana (51') to beat Hockey Jammu Kashmir 2-1. The only goal of Jammu and Kashmir was scored by captain Palvi Devi in the 41st minute of the match.
In the third match of the day (Pool D),  Hockey Madhya Pradesh sealed a comfortable 3-0 win over Hockey Uttarakhand.
Hirva Purohit found the breakthrough goal early in the fourth minute  before Tahur Naaz doubled the advantage in the 35th minute.
Gungun Kaur then converted a penalty corner in the 39th minute to make the final scoreline read 3-0.
