16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup: UTA sweep medal tally on Day 2

IMPHAL, May 13 : UTA swept the Day 2 of 16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup medal tally amassing as many as 15 medals including 4 gold and 4 silver here at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
PTA however continued to remain on top of the tally adding 4 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals today to take their tally to 22 medals.
In the cadet girls 33 kg category event, Mayanglambam Bansika of PTA won the gold beating Mumtaz Begum of Imperial as W Jeslyn of PTA settled for the bronze medal.
NSA's Kh Sonia won the 41kg category gold medal beating L Angel of Marjing in the final. IMRTA's Laishram Inunganbi on the other hand grabbed the cadet girls 47 kg gold medal beating Laisom Olivia of UTA in the final.
Sub-Junior Boys
Meanwhile in the sub-junior boys 21 kg event, W Binorjit of PTA won the gold beating Mangal L of Kangla as UTA's N Tennyson and Imperial's Himal Tanang shared the podium for the bronze medals.
In the 25 kg final, T Galen of RTA beat Ngambaton Ahanthem of UTA to win the gold. RTA's S Jenish Meitei on the other hand won the 29 kg category gold beating his compatriot L Lakpati in the final. In the 48 kg event, UTA's L Nonglei Khumancha won the gold beating ICLTA's L Tomthinnganba.
The 55 kg title went to K Jenish of Nambol as he beat I Sachin of NSA while N Rolin of SAIRC bagged the 63 kg category gold beating Nambol's Yohenba Thokchom in the final.
Sub-Junior Girls
Chanam Jayaraj Chanu of UTA claimed the sub-junior girls 18 kg category gold medal beating Lanchenbi Thoudam of PTA in the final.
PTA's Naorem Lingjel and K Verona Chanu of Lamsang on the other hand grabbed 22 kg and 26 kg category gold medals respectively beating KTA's Raj Kumari Thoichenbi and Holina Asem.
Cadet Boys
In the Cadet Boys competition, L Rojit of HTA sealed the 37 kg category gold beating TTA's Th Remix.
S Tondonba of PTA won the 45 kg category gold beating HTA's N Sanachand while Ng Bilitan of SAIRC and Ph Nivash of PTA finished with bronze medals.
L Sanjit of HTA bagged the unit's other gold medal of the day beating NSA's Yohenba Y in the 53 kg final.
Junior Girls
Irom Bijiya won NSA the unit's other gold medal of the day beating Laishram Chaningkhombi of SAIRC in the junior girls' 44 kg final.
Winning junior girls 49 kg gold was Priyadarshini Mayengbam of UTA who beat NSA's Nongthombam Sania in the final. In the 55 kg final, Marjing's Salam Charlie won the gold beating N Saina of NSA while CTI's Y Jiber Chanu and NSA's Rupsa Karmarkar won the bronze medals.
Senior men
SAIRC's B Rahul Sharma won the senior men's 58 kg category gold as he beat UTA's N Silheiba in the final while RK Dhanajit of SAIRC won the bronze medal.
The senior men's 80 kg category gold went to P Tejson of Nambol as CTI's H James won the silver.
Marjing's H Devajit and PTA's Vivek P were able to win bronze medals of the category.
Senior Women
Thokchom Inaobi of UTA fetched the senior women's 49 kg category gold beating her compatriot Sapam Nancy in the final. KTA's Pebam Selina and SAI's L Chinthanganbi shared bronze medals.
CTI's Ningombam Helana on the other hand bagged the 67 kg category gold medal beating KTA's Gaitri Khaidem in the final.
