IMPHAL, May 15 : Haryana launched their Pool A campaign in the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship being hosted in Imphal with a 12-0 win over Jammu and Kashmir today.
Riya took centre stage in the league match as she added five goals including the opener for Haryana in the 12th minute of the match while Nidhi and Pooja added two goals apiece. Bhavya doubled the advantage in the 13th minute of the match before captain Saavi converted another chances two minutes latter to hand Haryana a 3-0 first quarter lead.
The second quarter saw Riya scoring her second in the 18th minute before her compatriot Nidhi struck another in the 29th minute to make it 5-0 till halfway.
Riya completed her treble in the 39th minute as Pooja further extended the lead to 7-0 finishing a clinical effort in the 44th minute as the Jammu and Kashmir girls remained clueless. Despite the huge lead, Haryana kept the pressure on their rivals and notched up the 8th goal via Pooja in the 48th minute before Riya added two goals back to back in the 53rd and the 56th minutes to complete her five goal haul and Sejal (58') and Nidhi (60') took honour to further add two goals to complete the 12-0 demolition.
With the result, Jammu and Kashmir are out of the tournament having lost the earlier match to West Bengal as well.
Later in a lopsided Pool C clash, Uttar Pradesh too got off to a flying start as they ended Gurajat's campaign with a 21-0 decimation courtesy double hattrick by Vandana Patel (29', 32', 34', 41', 51', 56'),  five goals from Suneeta Kumari (16', 27', 30', 39', 52') and four from Pushpanjali Sonkar (24', 30', 43', 55').
Kanchan Kumari (2', 47') and Manisha Patel (3', 35') also contributed two goals apiece as Peetambari Kumari (12') and Purnima Yadav (36') managed a goal each in the 21-0 win of Uttar Pradesh against Gujarat.
In a Pool D league match, Odisha trounced Uttarakhand 5-0. The game started slowly and the first quarter ended goalless before Ashima Rout found the breakthrough goal in the 17th minute. Priyanka Kujur then converted a penalty corner in the 28th minute to make it 2-0 till halfway. The third quarter saw Supriya Kujur scoring a penalty stroke in the 35th minute and Puja Ramchhuria converting a penalty corner to make it 4-0 before Surekha Bahala flicked home the final nail to the coffin in the 50th minute.
Assam Hockey were declared 5-0 winners in a Pool E match after Delhi Hockey forfeited the game.
Meanwhile in a Pool B match, Jharkhand knocked Kerala out 10-0.
