56th All Lamkang Sports Meet begins, Angkhel Chayang enter men's football quarter final

IMPHAL, May 17 : The 56th edition of All Lamkang Sports Meet 2022 organised by the Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK) kicked off today.
In the opening match of the men's football tournament which is participated by 23 teams, Angkhel Chayang saw off Khorpi 8-2 at its ground to advance to the last 8 stage.
DB Renghon and SK Bunghong starred in the match as both the players hit trebles to ensure Angkhel Chayang secure the big win.
Kh Rengsing of Khorpi fumbled to net into his own in the 8th minute to give Angkhel Chayang the headway before DB Renghon (13', 31') and SK Bunghong (22', 35') took their turns to add two goals each to make it 5-0 before the break.
SK Bungthot earned Khorpi a goal in the 46th minute to make it 1-5 but DB Renghon helped Angkhel Chayang retain five goal lead with a strike in the 56th minute.
SK Shetpol scored another for Khorpi in the 59th minute but it proved to be their last goal as DB Rengam (71') and SK Bunghong (74') pumped in two more goals for the winning side.
In the second match of the day, Challong overwhelmed Kongpe 5-0 thanks to Alex Kangten hattrick and booked their pre-quarter final berth.
An own goal by SK Wangjoy handed Challong the lead early in the 3rd minute before Alex Kangten banged in two goals back to back in the 23rd and the 33rd minute to make it 3-0 till halfway.
Alex Kangten continued his form after the break and completed his hat-trick in the 43rd minute and Rengthot Dilbung scored the decisive goal in the 55th minute.
Challong will meet the Thamlakhuren team for a place in the quarter final.
In the third match of the tournament, Ksenkhupi and Sektaikarong played out goalless draw in the regulation time before Sektaikarong emerged 3-1 victorious via tie break.
Kh Thamsing, JV Anthony and SK Khumring were the scorers for the winning side in the shootout as only JV Kohemson managed to score for the Ksenkhupi side. Sektaikarong will play either Komsen or Betuk Kvaarkhu in the pre-quarter final.
