IMPHAL, May 17 : Utlou High School and TG English School beat their respective rivals to enter U-14 boys semi-finals on the opening day of the 61st District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament organised by DYASO, Bishnupur at Mini Stadium, Bishnupur.
In the opening match of the 8-team U-14 boys tournament, Utlou High School came out all guns blazing to trounce Impetus School, Thinungei 6-0 and sealed the semi-final berth.
Later in the second match, Sh Yohenba scored a treble to hand TG English School, Bishnupur a 4-1 win over Ithai Khunou HS.
Sh Yohenba opened the account for the winning side in the 9th minute only to be equalised by Sh Yaiphaba three minutes later for the Ithai school team.
Th Diamond and Sh Yohenba however added a goal each in the 17th and the 29th minutes to make it 3-1 till the break. Sh Yohenba then completed his treble in the 32nd minute to make it 4-1 at the end.
Meanwhile in the U-17 boys opener, goals from Soibam Santosh (6') and Kh Manglemba (35') on either side of the break earned Bishnupur Hr Secondary School a 2-0 over Comprehensive English School Oinam and a place in the semi-final.
Later in the day, Keinou High School edged out Ningthoukhong High School 2-1. M Newton (16') and M Punshiba (52') scored it for the winning team after H Michael (14') handed Ningthoukhong HS the lead.
