IMPHAL, May 22 : Director of Miss Spring Organising Committee, The Indigenous Foundation (TIF) Phapcha Gachui has categorically stated that TIF was accorded the rights to organise Miss Spring for three years by Shirui Yorla, Imphal after entering a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 15, 2019 and issuing a letter of authorisation.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Phapcha said that  the first edition of the beauty pageant Miss Spring was hosted by Shirui Yorla, Imphal in 2018.
Saying that a functional body Miss Spring Organising Committee was constituted under TIF to supervise the event, she claimed that another organisation seems to be planning to organise the same event and this has confused the people.
Phapcha continued that they have been trying to clear the misunderstanding but no response has been given by the group in question till date.
She further claimed that the group came up with a beauty pageant titled Miss Shirui Lily and launched  a publicity campaign by using the official logo of the Shirui Lily Festival and Directorate of Tourism and conducted rounds of audition without obtaining due  approval from the authorities concerned.
Asking how two beauty pageants will be organised under Shirui Lily Festival,  Phapcha claimed  that one cannot simply discredit the works done by others just because of having some connection with people in power.
As per Phapcha, the Directorate of Tourism issued a letter of Expression of Interest (EoI) and Rate Quotation for a maximum of Rs 10 lakh for organising Miss Spring 2022-23 during the 4th Shirui Lily Festival to interested firms with experience of having organised a similar event.
Maintaining that TIF and Seven Sisters Foundation participated in the tender process, Phapcha maintained that TIF bid the rate quotation at a maximum of Rs 8.25 lakh while Seven Sisters Foundation bid at a maximum of Rs 2.5 lakh.
