Liquor worth over Rs 30 lakh disposed

IMPHAL, May 22: Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) of different brands worth around Rs 30.43 lakh and over 20,000 litres of DIC liquor seized by the Excise Department and law enforcing agencies were disposed today.
The liquor bottles were put in a pit, smashed and set ablaze at the Excise headquarters, Lamphelpat.
The pit was later covered up.
Excise Superintendent Th Brucelee Khuman told media persons that the liquor were disposed with due permission of the Excise Commissioner.
The liquor were seized in the run up to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election and after it. Some of them were seized by the State Police, Brucelee said.
He said that a large quantity of liquor was disposed similarly on February 7 ahead of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.  
The liquor disposed today included 1567.56 litres of IMFL, 1145.47 litres of beer and 17,590.75 litres of DIC liquor.
Their respective monetary values were Rs 9,40,557, Rs 3,43,641 and Rs 17,59,075 respectively.
