Lecture programme on 'Impact of Women Scientists' conducted

A one day extensive lecture programme on the topic 'Impact of Women Scientists' was held at the Central Hall of GP Women's College today.
The lecture programme was organised by the Department of Physics in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GP Women's College which is under Dhanamanjuri University, said a press release by the Coordinator, IQAC, GP Women's College.
Today's programme was attended by Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University, Professor N Rajmuhon Singh, Principal of GP Women's College, Dr RK Tamphasana, Controller of Examination, Manipur University (MU), N Nimai and Professor of Life Science Department, MU, Prof Ranendra as the presidium members.
Professor A Surjalal Sharma, Department of AstroPhysics, University of Maryland, USA spoke in length on the topic of the lecture programme and opined that women scientists should take major responsibilities in today's world where science and technology is highly advanced.
Speaking at the occasion, principal of the college, Dr RK Tamphasana highlighted the importance of active participation of women students in research works in various fields of Science and to lead such research ventures.
The teachers should also motivate the students to pursue higher studies in different fields, she added.
