K Shyam points out benefits of library

IMPHAL, May 24 : Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam has emphasised on the need to implement Manipur Library Act 1988 and establish a separate Directorate to start a library movement in Manipur.
Addressing the 35th foundation day of Manipur Library Association (MALA) at Old Assembly Museum today, the MLA continued that implementing the Manipur Library Act will be beneficial to youth  as it will develop reading and writing skills of the students.
During the function, some patron members of MALA were also felicitated.
"It is truly unfortunate that such a significant Act is being suppressed all these years and it was a big mistake of the  successive Governments," the MLA said  and assured that he will do his best to implement the Manipur Library Act during the tenure of the incumbent Government.
He lauded the State Government for allocating a land measuring 25 points to construct a building of MALA.
"Some States don't compromise anything when it comes to education and they give utmost importance to libraries as it provides free access to learning resources but the same culture is very weak in Manipur " the MLA added.
Kakching AC MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and MALA president Kangjam Chaoba Singh also attended the function.
