Election petitions : Court gives 3 weeks to MLAs to reply

IMPHAL, May 24 : The High Court of Manipur on Monday granted three weeks time to Kumbi MLA S Premchandra, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi and Keirao MLA L Rameshwor to submit their replies regarding the election petitions filed against them.  
The order was passed by Justice Lanusungkum Jamir.
The election petitions were filed by Ahanthem Sanjoy against Kumbi MLA S Premchandra, S Subhaschandra against Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi and Md Nasiruddin against Keirao MLA L Rameshwor.
After the hearing, the Court granted three weeks time to the respondent MLAs to submit their return statement and fixed June 14 for next hearing.
It may be mentioned that the election petitions were all filed under Section 80, 80-A, 81 and 84 read with Section 100(1) (d) (i) (iv) and Section 101 of the Representation of the Peoples Act 1951 challenging the election of the respondent MLAs as a member of the 12th  Manipur Legislative Assembly.
