HC directs

IMPHAL, May 23 : The High Court of Manipur has directed Kshetrigao AC MLA  Sheikh Noorul Hassan and other respondents of the election petition filed by ex-MLA Nahakpam Indrajit  to submit their counter affidavit on or before June 13 and fixed the same date for the next hearing.
The ruling was given by Justice MV Muralidaran after hearing both parties at length.
It may be mentioned that the Court had directed the respondents to submit their replies by May 23 in the previous hearing held on April 28. The respondents, however, didn't submit their replies while the defence counsel sought some time to file a counter affidavit.
Ex-MLA Nahakpam Indrajit, in his petition, claimed that there are certain discrepancies in the nomination paper submitted by Sheikh Noorul Hassan such as non mentioning of the joint account, saving account and current account being opened in different banks and the source of income of his wife.
The petitioner prayed for declaring the election of Noorul Hassan as null and void and declare the petitioner as the winner of the 12th Manipur Assembly election.
