JIRIBAM, May 25 : Haobam Thoibi, vice president of Chingdong Leikai Women Association has appealed for repairing of Jiri-Tipaimukh road by June 10, failing which will result in many forms of agitation including road blockage.
A memorandum was also submitted at Jiribam DC Office located in Chingdong Leikai to be handed over to Chief Minister N Biren Singh through Jiribam ADC Jameson Hangshing (MCS).
Haobam Thoibi said that Jiri-Tipaimukh road has been in a deplorable state for more than 20 years. Promises for repairing this road had been made when the CM visited the area for the Go To Village 2.0 mission, but nothing has materialized from those promises she added. As a result the women's organisation had taken it upon themselves to accomplish the task at hand.
The recent torrential rains have also greatly damaged this road with the creation of large potholes and made it dangerous for motorists, she added.
Haobam Thoibi continued to say that if their demand for repairing Jiri-Tipaimukh road is not fulfilled by June 10 then widespread agitation will be launched along with blocking of National Highway as well JT road.
