Huge store of arms, ammos busted

IMPHAL, May 25 : A combined team of Bishnupur commandos and a column of 16 Assam Rifles busted a hideout of suspected underground cadres and recovered arms and ammunition today early morning from Kamong Maning Leikai near Leimakhong Turel Dam under Nambol police station.
Acting on a specific input about the presence of a hideout of underground militants at Kamong Maning Leikai, the combined team carried out an extensive search operation at Kamong Maning Leikai.
In the course of the operation, the combined team recovered arms and ammunition which were kept concealed near the dam of Leimakhong Turel at Kamong Maning Leikai.
Arms and ammunition recovered from the hideout included one MA-1 assault rifle along with three magazine and 54 live rounds of 5.66 mm calibre, one .32 pistol along with magazine and four live rounds, one hand grenade and four Kenwood hand-held radio set. The recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the Nambol police station.
