Kakching Subroto Mukerjee FootballWabagai Hr Sec School, Sanatombi HS emerge U-17 boys and U-14 boys champions

IMPHAL, May 25 : Wabagai Higher Secondary School and Sanatombi High School emerged U-17 boys and U-14 boys champions respectively in the Kakching District Inter School Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament organi-sed by DYASO, Kakching at Keirak Kangjeibung.
In the U-17 boys final, Wabagai Hr Secondary School rode on Y Avinash treble to crush Kakching Public School 4-1 and earn a place in the State level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament.
The Wabagai school side dominated the game from the word go and took a 3-0 first half lead as Y Avinash banged in the opener in the 12th minute before M Nungshithoiba doubled the advantage in the 25th minute.
Y Avinash completed his double in the 29th minute to make it 3-0 before the break and went on to add another in the 43rd minute to hand his team a unassailable 4-0 lead.
Kakching Public School, who entered the final on a bye, managed to score a consolation goal late in the 58th minute through N Bedanta as Wabagai Higher Secondary School walked home 4-1 to earn the top honour.
Meanwhile in the U-14 title clash, Sanatombi High School thumped Martin Grammar English School 3-0.
Martin Grammar English School held off relentless Sanatombi High School to settle the first half in a goalless draw but Y Bicky conceded an own goal in the 38th minute to give Sanatombi HS the much deserved lead. Sanatombi High School, boosted by the sudden lead continued to press hard on their rivals and doubled the lead via U Bikash in the 46th minute before Paikhomba dug deep into the stoppage time (50+2) to complete the 3-0 rout.
