131st death anniversary of Kajao held

The 131st death anniversary of Pukhrambam Kajao (Phingang) was observed at  Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Compound, Kamong Meisnam Leikai, Imphal West, today.  
At the observation which was organized by Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Trust, floral tributes were paid in honour of the valiant soldier who fought against the British.  
At the event, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata Singh said that the present generation needs to follow the footsteps of 'our ancestor' and uphold their heroic deeds.
"Pukhrambam Kajao was one of the great heroes of Manipur who will be remembered by the generations to come and we must show gratitude to them for they sacrificed their life for us," he added.
Health & IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said that there are  many people who want to know the history of Manipur and renaming Mount Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Mount Manipur is a true example of recognizing 'our history and our brave heroes.'  
The Minister maintained that the spear which was used by Pukrambam Kajao has become a historical spear and as such it must be preserved well.
He then sought suggestions from the people to preserve the spear befittingly. MLA of Oinam Assembly Constituency, I Nalini Devi also attended the observation.
Cultural items such as Thang-Ta and other martial arts events were showcased during the observation.
